Employment is a significant area of NILGA work. Local Government in Northern Ireland has some 10,000 staff. NILGA provides nominations and support for:
- NIJC - the Northern Ireland Joint Council for Local Government Services.
- JNC - the Joint Negotiating Committee for Chief Executives of Local Authorities in Northern Ireland.
